REFLECTION
This microchallenge was particularly different from the previous ones because, this time, we focused mainly on creating a performance rather than developing a highly articulated artifact.
I worked once again with Sila and, just like the last time, I really enjoyed collaborating with her. Ayal was no exception. We worked very much in unison, also because testing our device required all three of our phones at the same time.
This microchallenge can be divided into two main phases. During the first half, we dedicated our time to developing the concept of feeling “out of the body” and building the network of nodes in TouchDesigner necessary to make the headset function in real time with the lowest delay possible.
During the second half, we mainly experimented and had fun using the functioning headset, trying to understand how to make the performance more effective and how to better convey the sensation of being outside one’s own body.
Looking back on it, I believe the performance successfully achieved the objective we had set, and I am very satisfied with the final result. Moreover, day after day, TouchDesigner is becoming clearer and easier for me to understand; because of this, I am beginning to see new potentials and applications that could be explored in the future, which makes it an extremely powerful tool.
